Besides #369, we are interested in the replication metrics:

How many operations are replicated.
How long does it take.
Metrics related to tree synchronization (cycle time)
Tree count?

Consider making these metrice per-node.

shouldn't tree count be a pilorama metric though? the tree service itself doesn't maintain the forest, just interfaces it.
